Crafting Hints and Tips

Tailoring is the easiest craft.  You can tailor anywhere.

Low level items take little time to complete and are more likely to be successful.  High level items take longer, cost more and have a higher failure rate.

If one of your secondary skills lags too far behind you may not be able to make the next level of item.  To remedy this situation, you can make items just in that category.  EXAMPLE - A tailor has a tailoring skill of 400 and should be able to make gossamer, but a clothworking of only 350 and so cannot make gossamer.  So the choices are to either make many items in the clothworking skill (dolls & puppets) or take up Armorcrafting!  When you craft studded armor it also uses the clothworking skill and even though your Armorcrafting may only be a 1 when you successfully make items, it can, and usually does, raise your clothworking.  I have found that it is more useful (and generally cheaper) to know how other crafts work and be able to make some low level items for new players than to be able to make expensive dolls and puppets with no value of their own.   Armorcrafters can make weapons to raise their metalworking.

Boots and gloves are generally the cheapest to make.
